The Essence of working with The Awakened Caterpillar

Joseph has dedicated 13 years of practice to be able to hold a deeply healing space for his clients to transform at a rate that is right for them and their journey.

In the simplest of terms, he is able to resonate with deep earth energies and higher frequency compassion depending on what is needed at any moment for the client.

As an empath, intuituve and deeply sensitive, Joseph can listen to your system and tune in to where in the system is asking for gentle presence and attention in order to invite the possibility and potential for balance and harmony in those areas that may need them.

In Reiki terms, Joseph can listen for areas that have accumulated toxins on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level and bringing gentle non-judgemental awareness to these areas can help to bring about balance and transformation. 

What to expect during a session

The first session is always longer (90 minutes) so Joseph can take a history and fully understand where the client may want support. Once the necessary information has been collected, the client will be invited to the therapy couch and is usually invited to lay on their back fully clothed with cusions, blankets and bolsters to ensure comfort. Seated treatments are also possible for those that would require or prefer it. 

Joseph will then place his hands gently on certain areas of the clients body which is always negotioated beforehand and although touch can be very healing and comforting for most people, some may want a contactless treatment were Joseph can hover his hands above the body instead. The clients sense of comfort and safety is paramount and the client is encouraged to offer regular feedback throughout the treatment so adjustments can be made as required.

Most people feel very relaxed during the session and there may be times where certain sensations or perceptions come to the foreground which is a natural part of the process and the clients sytem responsing to the healing process.

Every clients experience is unique and therefore it is best not to come with any set expectations and one session can be very different to the next for the same client. This is the magic and mystery of this work. There are many clients who also feel very little or nothing at all who have really positive results and so there is no rhyme or reason to the effectiveness of the treatment based on what the client may or may not perceive. 

There are many misconceptions, in my opinion about Reiki and energy healing of which I want to address some of the main ones here should you be interested:

Channelling

The idea of ‘channelling’ energy has become misunderstood in my humble opinion. Yes, a skilled Reiki or energy healing practioner can connect with and resonate with universal life force energies but it is the clients system that decides whether to resonate with that energy or not. Nothing is passed on to the client. All healing is self-healing essentially.

The role of the therapist is to create an optimal environment for healing conditions to emerge and to facilitate the process for the client in a safe and nurturing space. This is done through resonating with what the clients system is asking for from a deep space of non-judgemental and compassionate presence.

Attunements

Most Reiki practitioners have been through a process of Reiju, commonly referred to as ‘attunements’  or ‘initiation’ from their Reiki teacher. To be clear, this is not some magical process where an energy or power is ‘passed on’ from one person to another.

It was originally designed as a sacred ceremony to honour the nature of the work and to help the student to connect to what they already have available to them through earth vibrational and higher energies – the universal life forces that are fundemental to life. They are present in each and every one of us and no one has any special ability to switch this connection on for another. It is through a grounded and skilled practitioner who has spent many years practicing being with these energies and listening to many different people’s systems that enables them to be like a radio signal for the client. It is up to the client to then tune in and resonate with the frequency should they feel they wish to.

Reiki Master

When I first trained in Reiki and completed my level 3 in 2014 I was awared a certificate as a ‘Reiki Master’. Wow, I thought! What an achievement!

However, my journey had only just begun and I quickly realised that I was not a Reiki Master and never would be. How could anyone be a ‘Master’ of Reiki. In Jikiden Reiki there is no Reiki Master, simply Reiki Practitioner and Reiki Shihan (teacher). This is more appropriate in my opinion.

My main focus now is very much on helping others as a energy healing practitioner but do teach Self-Healing and Meditation courses for those who want to be able to support themselves more activiely which I highly encourage all of my clients to do. I do teach and train new Reiki practitioners and discuss this upon request with those that may be interested.
